Card Errors on Cowrywise

Having trouble adding your debit card?

Written by Ope

Are you seeing an error when you try to add your debit card to your Cowrywise account? You may be unable to add or use your debit card because Cowrywise currently no longer accepts debit card payments.

But don’t worry, you can still fund your savings and investment plans easily using any of the options below.

1. Link your bank account

You can connect your bank account to Cowrywise and use it to fund your savings and investment plans.

With a linked bank account, you can:

  • Fund your plans seamlessly.

  • Set up an automation for your savings or investment plan.

  • Make payments directly from your bank account.

Please note: Currently, only accounts with commercial banks can be linked.

2. Fund your plan via bank transfer

You can also fund your plan by making a bank transfer.

To do this:

  1. Open the Cowrywise app and select the savings or investment plan you want to fund.

  2. Select the option to fund your plan.

  3. A virtual account number will be generated for you

  4. Make a transfer to the account number using your bank's mobile banking app or USSD. Please confirm the Bank name and Account name before making payment.

  5. Once the transfer is successful, the funds will be credited to your Cowrywise account and applied to your plan.

Your unique account number makes it easy to fund your plan whenever you need to, without adding a debit card.
