You can save and invest with your Naira card on Cowrywise once it is enabled for online payments, however, some Naira cards are not designed for recurrent online payments. You can confirm with your bank the best card they have for you to make your recurrent online transactions.

Here are the things you need to understand to guide you through i) adding your card ii) topping up with your added card successfully and iii) some of the errors you could be getting to add your card;

  1. Insufficient funds

    This error is sent by your bank if you do not have enough balance on the card you are trying to save/invest with. This could also occur when your card is linked to your savings and current bank accounts and you only have funds in one of the two accounts. What you need to do is to confirm you have sufficient balance in your bank account, then retry topping up, if this fails, delete your added card from your Cowrywise account, then re-add it and retry saving with it. An alternative method is to top up via bank transfer.

  2. An error occurred, please retry later or contact support / Unable to process transactions

    This error signifies the bank is currently unable to process the transaction with your card or that your card is not enabled for online payments by the card issuer. If you get this error after retrying to fund your account with the card, you need to get in touch with your bank to confirm your card is enabled for online payments and request to generate an OTP to authorize your card for online payments on your email/mobile line then retry saving/investing with your card. You can fund your account via bank transfer in the meantime.

  1. Token not generated, card not registered on the token platform / Card not authorized on 3D authentication / Token Authorization error

    This error signifies your card is not enabled for online payments by the card issuer. You need to get in touch with your bank to enable your card for online payments and request to generate an OTP to authorize your card for online payments on your email/mobile line then retry saving/investing with your card. You can fund your account via bank transfer in the meantime.

  2. You are getting a "bag secured" prompt after topping up, however, the top-up attempt fails. This could be due to some of these errors;

I. Blocked /Expired card

This error occurs when you are attempting to fund your account with your inactive card. You can use your active card instead, or fund your account via bank transfer.

II. Attempt not honoured by the bank

This error occurs when the bank is currently unable to process transactions with your card, you can retry topping up later with the card and top up via bank transfer in the meantime. Should you get the error again after retrying, you need to delete and re-add the card to your account to re-authorize your card on your account and continue saving with it.

III. Card issuer switch error

This error occurs when the bank is currently unable to process transactions with your card, you can retry topping up later with the card and top up via bank transfer in the meantime. Should you get the error again after retrying, you need to delete and re-add the card to your account to re-authorize your card on your account and continue saving with it.
